How do I close my account?
You can close your account(s) with us by telephone, secure online banking message or letter. If you are planning to close an account, you can make some preparations ahead of contacting us that will make the process quicker:
- Transfer out the remaining funds from your account (if you are moving funds internationally and the payment carries a charge, you can choose to debit the charge from the payment amount instead of the account)
- Stop using any debit cards attached to the account
- Ask for any debits/credits to be made from/to your new account
Once the account is at a nil balance, and you know that no further debits/credits will be made, you can call us or if you have online banking you can send a secure message to close the account.
The account closing process can take up to five working days from the date your request is processed.
