IBAN (International Bank Account Number)

IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number.

It starts with a two-digit country code and then a two-digit control part.

There is then a reference to the bank’s local code and an individual’s domestic account number.

What are the advantages of IBAN?

It’s advantageous because:

  1. International payments are quicker and more efficient. This is because banks can confirm the number belongs to the recipient before making payments.
  2. Service fees may be cheaper.
