What are Trojans?

A Trojan is a malicious ‘hidden’ program that is installed when you download a program you want.

Sometimes a Trojan can cause damage to your computer.

Sometimes it can capture your keystrokes as you type, sending confidential details, like passwords, to criminals.

 To protect yourself:

  • Don’t download programs if they’re not from trusted sources – that great freeware programme might come with a Trojan
  • Take care when you open email attachments, software and music downloads
